I n winter, The Palm Beach County takes on a special glow as soft breezes caress winter-weary souls. Located two hours southeast of Orlando and one hour north of Miami, the destination is serviced by three major airports. The calendar's filled with colourful special events, celebrating food, wine, auto- mobiles, theatre, music, art, crafts, antiques and a hundred other things. In addition, fascinating experiences abound. For example, observe Florida's manatees from the observation deck at the Manatee Lagoon– An FPL Eco-Discovery Center, where the warm waters from the Florida Power & Light facility attract these gentle "sea cows"—who love interacting with people. CycleParty Pub Crawl in West Palm offers Sunday Funday and foodie tours along with pub crawls. Here, you'll help pedal the 14-pas- senger bike for a unique urban experience through one of the county's bustling down- town areas, Downtown West Palm Beach. Relax with Twilight Yoga underneath the historic Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. Or take a historical walking tour of iconic Worth Avenue for an insider's look at per- haps America's most glamorous street. The winter months are busy with festi- vals and special events. At the Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival, December 14–17, mingle with renowned chefs and enjoy regional specialties from around the country. On January 26 and 27, 2018, the Jupiter Craft Brewers Festival takes place in the seaside town of Jupiter, where you'll sample why The Palm Beaches are gaining a reputation for innovative craft beers. Sports? The Delray Beach Open tennis tournament (February 16–25, 2018) attracts more than 50,000 people to what's been called "America's Most Fun Small Town." And the Honda Classic golf tournament takes place February 19–25 at PGA National Resort & Spa, where the world's best players tackle the famed Champion Course. Art? The Lake Worth Street Painting Fes- tival, February 24 and 25, 2018, attracts more than 100,000 people to the funky down- town neighbourhood. Or check out the prestigious Boca Raton Festival of the Arts from February 23 to March 4. And that's just the tip of the iceberg! Four major league baseball teams hold spring training here. Don't overlook the great shop- ping, dining and entertainment centres like Worth Avenue, CityPlace and Clematis Street in West Palm Beach, The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens, and Mizner Park and Royal Palm Place in Boca Raton. In winter, The Palm Beaches really come alive. DS TRAVEL PLANNER Discover The Palm Beaches at thepalmbeaches.com.
