SPRING 2018 DREAMSCAPES 59 T he Vancouver Art Gallery ushers in spring with the first Canadian show by contemporary art icon Takashi Murakami. The Octopus Eats its Own Leg traces Murakami's development as an artist over three decades and explores the concepts and cultural conditions that have shaped his work. The 55 paintings and sculptures offer his take on the current state of Japanese society in the midst of a complex global world. A five-metre-high sculpture and two multi-panel paintings have been created especially for the Vancouver show.
