M
ardi Gras season signals a time
of celebration. Why not spend
time in Lafayette at the heart of
Louisiana's Cajun & Creole Country, famous
for letting the good times roll, or as locals
say: Laissez les bons temps rouler.
Dubbed the "Happiest City in America"
by The Wall Street Journal, Lafayette is a per-
fect fit. After all, Mardi Gras is one of the
happiest celebrations there is, drawing vis-
itors from far and wide to let loose and
experience all the excitement and revelry of
the carnival season in a family-friendly
atmosphere.
On February 18 and from February 24–28,
festivities include parades, a live music fes-
tival, fancy dress balls and a costume
contest. So head on down to enjoy the fete—
and don't forget to shout, "Throw me some-
thing, mister!"
Lafayette is also an incredible place to
sample Cajun cooking at its finest, thanks
to a new generation of talented chefs.
There's no better place to broaden your
Mardi Gras experience and explore the rich
cultural history, amazing culinary creations
and the distinctive Cajun and Zydeco music
scene. One thing is certain. You will be grin-
ning from ear to ear.
